Welcome — Why I Started This Blog

General

Hi, I’m Daniel — an AI/ML engineer based in Brisbane, Australia. Over the past 4+ years I’ve been building production AI systems: computer vision pipelines for road and waste monitoring deployed across Australian councils, an LLM-powered IoT monitoring platform, and more recently, researching domain-specific business chatbots.

This blog is where I share what I learn along the way.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Production ML lessons — Real challenges from shipping computer vision and LLM systems to production: data pipelines, model serving, failure modes, and the engineering work that doesn’t make it into research papers
  • Technical deep-dives — Explorations of architectures, tools, and patterns I use daily — from object detection tuning to LLM function calling orchestration
  • Industry landscape — How the AI/ML field is evolving and what it means for engineers building real systems

Why Write?

Two reasons. First, writing forces clarity — if I can’t explain something concisely, I don’t understand it well enough. Second, the AI field moves fast and I want a personal knowledge base I can reference when the next wave of models and frameworks arrives.

If you find any of it useful, that’s a bonus. Feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to discuss AI engineering.
